Meet Our Newest Pro Team Member Michael Mark - Posted: February 18th 2014

"I ran my first obstacle race at the age of 38 - 15 years after my last real competition. That race lit a competitive fire in me that I had forgotten about. Deciding to become an elite racer forced me to evolve my training and nutrition, and made me learn to become excellent at something I had never specifically focused on before - running. Every time I train and race in OCR, I feel like I'm building myself into the best hybrid athlete I've ever been." Click here to learn more about Michael

More than 2,000 runners from 12 countries and 36 states participated in the event at Kualoa Ranch.

Atlas Pro Team members Max King, Rose Wetzel, and Lauren Ho put in great performances at this tough event with numerous elevation changes.
Max King took 3rd place with a time of 1:20:53. Rose Wetzel came in at 4th place with 1:40:46, and Hawaii Native Lauren Ho took 7th place with 1:46:47.

The Championship Course was a grueling 21-kilometer half-marathon and takes runners through some of the most diverse and scenic terrain on the planet. "It takes a little bit of everything...Strong technical skills are a must, but parts of the course also require a high level of speed as well. The biggest thing that I've noticed is that the significant hill at mile 9 really wipes people out. Climbing ability is important from the gun, but having climbing endurance in this race is even more important." - Max King

If you are heading to Bend in December for the USATF Club XC event be sure to thank Max for kicking your butt. This years course was designed by Max. The past few weekends he literally has been trailblazing, clearing sagebrush and making trails between fairways and runners will have plenty of short uphills, some hillside scrambles and maybe even a hay bale or two to clear. King's course is a 2,000-meter loop on which competitors will run a number of circuits, depending on their racing division.
