I started playing every sport they would allow me to
play at the Parks and Rec Department at the age of 5, basketball being
my favorite. That passion continued throughout High School. I ran Track
and Cross Country in order “to stay in shape for basketball” but I
secretly liked running.
During college at Pepperdine University my passion turned to Crossfit
and fitness. I became a Personal Trainer, Spin and TRX instructor. It
wasn’t until February 2013 that I did my first obstacle race and have
not stopped since.
MY ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Lyman Hall High School Athlete of the year.
Pole Vault School Record Holder.
Five out of eight obstacle race podium finishes.
WHY I'M ADDICTED TO OBSTACLE RACING
I love obstacle racing because it is such a fun and exciting way to test
physical fitness. I am addicted to it because it is one of the only
opportunities I have been given in my adult life to compete and try to
be the best at something. It is the climb to the top that keeps me
coming back race after race. I crave the top of the podium!
MY FAVORITE GEAR
I currently enjoy the New Balance Minimus’. However I am not too concerned with fancy equipment.
MY OBSTACLE RACING ADVICE
Be resourceful. You can do a lot with a little
incline and a rock or stump. Don’t over train. Logging 1,000 miles wont
get you as far as concentrated strength training and intervals. And when
it comes to race day, don’t be a hero in the first 400 meters!
